Turtle burger 2

If you’re a burger fan, this is gonna be a delicious heart attack treat!

This idea came from a TV show and with my step-daughter’s creative talents she concocted this dinner for us.

Ingredients you’ll need:

-1/2 small finely chopped onion

– 1 egg Egg

– 1/2 cup whole grain bread crumbs

– Seasonings (to preference): Toni’s sacheries, garlic powder, salt & peper

– 2-3 lbs. Ground Sirloin

– 1 pack Hot dogs

–  1 pack Bacon (thick sliced, applewood preferred)

– Cheese and condiments for finished product

In a large bowl, fork together onion, egg, bread crumbs and seasonings. Next mix in, with clean hands, the ground sirloin, do not over mix, the more you mix the firmer your burgers will be when they are done cooking. Create thin patties, you will need 2 patties per turtle.

Slice hot dog in half length wise, so you have two thin long hot dogs. Half both long pieces again to create the limbs, on the rounded ends make little cuts on the top to create the paws???..lol…. On another rounded part create the face. Don’t forget the tail, cut out a piece of hot dog in a triangle shape.

Here’s a closeup….

Assemble Turtle as follows on a baking sheet with wire rack (better the grease drip than stick:

Place one thin patty down, place hot dog body parts around patty in position, place another patty on top creating a sandwich style enclosure with limbs still hanging out. Take the bacon and wrap several layers in a crisscross method to hold the turtle together in place. Carefully place completed turtle on wire rack.

Bake at 350°F for 30-45 minutes. Add cheese and condiments or eat alone.

Here is what our finished product looked like…we added a slice of Sharp Cheddar Cheese and Whole grain hamburger buns. Fabulous!
