Healthy infused water made with lemons, limes, oranges, and ginger…drink up!

Don’t like drinking plain water? Don’t like drinking the flavored waters that taste delicious but are LOADED with Sugar?

Are you on a diet, diabetic, trying to live healthier and are changing your life to only use natural organic fruits, roots and veggies?

This is my solution for cutting the sugar drinks, drinking my recommended water, and losing some of that flab around the waist, all with a fabulous flavor!

I love just about every fruit out there, for this water I used lemons, limes, oranges and ginger. I have also made this water using just lemons & ginger but you can use one type of fruit or mix up a couple or all at one time. I am a pinch here, pinch there, about kinda girl, I experiment till I think something taste good. This recipe so far has been the best combination of components to water I can give you.


What you will need:


1 small lemon (using the end & 2 slices or more)

1 small lime (using the end & 1 slice, or 2 slices)

1 small orange (choose your favorite type, using the end & 1 slice or 2 slices)

1 small ginger root (peeled & sliced)

2qt. or so pitcher

Slice about a 1/4″ off of the end of each fruit. Gently squeeze this end piece over pitcher then throw away.  Next slice about a 1/4″ – 1/2″ size portion of each type of fruit and place (don’t squeeze) in pitcher, make sure you remove any seeds. If you’re only using one type of fruit you will cut 2-3 thick slices. Save remaining fruit in ziplock bag for next batch, you will use 2 slices if no ends remain.

Slice a nub of the ginger root off approx.  1/2″ or so portion. Remove outside brown skin of root with knife or veggie peeler, you only want the inside cream colored part of the root. Once all of the brown skin is removed you will want to cut remaining inside of root into slices, any size will do, I tend to slice mine semi thick, between 1/16″ – 1/8″, but not paper thin. Put all slices into pitcher.

Infused Pitcher

Once your ingredients are placed in the pitcher add filtered water to the top and stir with wooden spoon and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow flavors to fuse.

After you have one pitcher under your belt you will then know how you want to adjust the next pitcher to your liking. I prefer a mild fusion of fruits and this recipe will give you that. If you want a stronger flavor add more slices of your favorites. I have also heard about adding fresh cucumber & lemons for a super fresh summer water drink. I am growing a little variety of herbs in my garden; once they are mature I am going to experiment with them & will be sure to post the outcome.
